2013 Scholarship Winners

Scholarship Winner Mae Joanna Bass - Chesterton High School, Chesterton, Indiana
Grandfather: William Bass '61
Mae will be attending Hillsdale College in Michigan, majoring in biology with a minor in history and French. Her education plans include medical school with a focus on cardiology. She was involved in swimming, French club and her church choir. Mae is a member of the National Honor Society.
Scholarship Winner Katherine "Katie" Bigham - Monroe High School, Monroe, WA

Katie will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle. Her plan is to pursue a degree in sciences, preferably oceanography. She was active in Drama Club, Science Club and a member of the Washington State 4-H Advisory Board. Katie is a member of the National Honor Society.
Scholarship Winner Jacob Bills - Stadium High School, Tacoma, WA
Grandmother: Pearl Hanson Bjodstrup '48, Uncle: Jim (M. James) Hanson
Jacob will be attending Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He is planning to study business and engineering and is hoping to obtain a double degree. Jacob was captain of his varsity football and basketball teams. Jacob was active in youth mentoring through Young Life and went on two separate mission teams to help with post-Katrina building efforts in New Orleans.
Scholarship Winner Skyler Brehm - Bellevue High School, Bellevue, WA
Grandmother: Virginia Grant Brehm '33 and Visa Huntley '09
Skyler will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle. Sklyer moved to India for his father's job and attended online classes while remaining on track for graduation at Bellevue High School. He embraced the culture in India which broadened his perspective. Skyler was also involved in cross country, Frisbee, and took multiple advance placement classes.
Scholarship Winner Madison Brock - Inglemoor High School, Kenmore, WA
Grandmother: Kay Johnston Wynter '57
Madison will be attending the California Polytechnic State University. While in College she plans to major in business administration with a minor in marketing. Her ultimate goal is to become a promotions director for a radio station. While in high school Madison was active in DECA, FBLA, and her school soccer team, as well as in her church and community.
Scholarship Winner Emily Burlison - Tahoma High School, Covington, WA
Mother: Linda Nichols Burlison '78, Aunt: Karen Nichols Vallejos
Emily will be attending the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. She was one of only 150 seniors nationwide accepted into the program. Emily was Math Team President, active in First Robotics, and section lead for the school marching band. She used her skills to volunteer as a math tutor.
Scholarship Winner Blair Burns - Kamiak High School, Mukilteo, WA
Mother: Barbara Ross Burns '81, Aunt: Lesley Ross, Aunt: Heather Ross, Uncle: Clive Ross, Uncle Keith Ross, Aunt: Lori Cummings
Blair will be attending Washington State University in Pullman. Blair plans to major/minor in psychology, sociology or criminal justice. She hopes to join the Peace Corp upon graduation from college and then make a career in either the CIA or FBI. Blair was involved in a variety of sports, and as a leader helper at Mukilteo Elementary she created a fundraiser to benefit a youth center.
Scholarship Winner Courtney Croft - Cascade High School, Everett, WA
Mother: Sheri Andersen '82, Uncle: Gene Andersen '81
Courtney will be attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. Courtney plans to become a school teacher. "It has been my passion my whole life," she says. While in high school she was active in leadership in a variety of roles, including cross county captain and sophomore class secretary.
Scholarship Winner Madison Eriks - Monroe High School, Monroe, WA
Grandfather: Paul Eriks '57, Grandmother: Joybelle Johnson Eriks, Grandmother: Sally Piehl Parker-Henderson
Madison will be attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg. Madison will be majoring in education and plans to obtain a master's in teaching. She hopes to make her dream of making a difference in kid's lives come true. While in high school she was FCCLA Treasurer and was involved in a variety of sports. Madison was also named a Math Academic Scholar.
Scholarship Winner Cory Gieffers Jessett - Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane, WA
Grandfather: Frederick Jessett '52, Great Aunt: Angela Jessett Moore '56
Cory will be attending Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane, Washington. Cory will be playing baseball at SFCC while earning his AA degree. He then plans to major in business at an in-state college or university. While in high school he was a Varsity 3 sport athlete. Cory was also involved in DECA and helped in the community in a variety of efforts including a community blood drive and volunteering at the food bank.
Scholarship Winner Riley Jessett - Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane, WA
Grandfather: Fred Jessett '52, Great Aunt: Angela Jessett Moore '56
Riley will be attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. Riley plans on pursuing a career in education with the goal of becoming a college professor. He was a founder of the Lewis and Clark High School Film Club, on the Academic Honor Roll, and lettered in Debate Club as well as the school music program.
Scholarship Winner Claire Kaiser - Shorecrest High School, Shoreline, WA
Grandmother: Claudia Benedict Wagner '53, Gerald Benedict '50
Claire will be attending the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. She is interested in the field of engineering and plans to study biomedical engineering. Claire hopes to go on to graduate school. While in high school she was involved in the Science and Robotics Clubs. She also enjoyed volunteering in a Rotary-sponsored service club (Interact) and the Ultimate Frisbee Club. Claire is an active member of her church and volunteers on the Lake Forest Park Youth Council.
Scholarship Winner Allison Monsen - Roosevelt High School, Seattle, WA
Mother: Kari Seeger Monsen '75, Aunt: Beverly Moen '72
Allison will be attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. She will be focusing on her core class program as she weighs future career options. While at high school she focused on the girls swim and dive team as well as the sports booster club. She was also involved in the Wedgewood Summer Swim Team.
Scholarship Winner Emily Monsen - Roosevelt High School, Seattle, WA
Mother: Kari Seeger Monsen '75, Aunt: Beverly Moen '72
Emily will be attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. She chose Western because of its size and value, along with the courses offered. While in high school Emily was involved in swimming and the marching band. She enjoys sewing, knitting and cooking and has been involved in community basketball and swim teams.
Scholarship Winner Chelsea Myntti - Granite Falls High School, Granite Falls, WA
Mother and Father: Cheryl Miller Myntti, Jack Myntti, both '71, Grandfather: Donald Miller, Uncle: Terry Myntti, Aunt: Starla Smith '72, Uncle: Lee Smith '73
Chelsea will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle. Chelsea earned her AA degree while in high school through the running start program. She will be majoring in biochemistry with a minor in math, with hope of medical school and becoming a surgeon. Chelsea was involved in Girl Scouts and was a Cascade Valley Hospital volunteer. She is a member of the National Honor Society and enjoys softball and soccer.
Scholarship Winner Natalie Nollan - Brighton High School, Brighton, MI
Grandfather: Frederick Nollan '47
Natalie will be attending Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Natalie plans to pursue international studies, with the goal of using this degree to travel and help both domestically and internationally with service work. She was very involved in the music program at Brighton High School, also involved with the service organization Interact, and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Scholarship Winner Leah Schildkraut - Ballard High School, Seattle, WA
Grandmother: Charlotte Siegal Schildkraut '42, Silvia Siegal, Barnie Siegal, George Siegal, Harold Siegal, Annette Siegal, Marilyn Kutoff, Cheryl Kutoff
Leah will be attending the University of Nevada in Reno. Leah plans to study fields such as marketing and communications. While in high school she was active in DECA, Link Crew, varsity volleyball and varsity tennis. She is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteered with Treehouse for Kids, Foster Teen Holiday and Food Lifeline.
Scholarship Winner Maggie Searight - Ballard High School, Seattle, WA
Grandfather: John Searight '55
Maggie will be attending the University of Oregon in Eugene. Maggie intends to pursue her education with the eventual goal of becoming an orthodontist. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was involved in Project Unify as well as cross country and DECA. She was also involved in Operation School Bell in her community.
Scholarship Winner Katherine "Kate" Stevens - Meadowdale High School, Lynnwood, WA
Grandfather: John "Jack" Perry '50
Kate will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle. Katherine will be a third-generation graduate of the UW and plans to major in communications. She was active in junior varsity and varsity volleyball, news production, Inter-high school representative, FCCLA (Family, Career and Community leaders of America), Link Crew and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Scholarship Winner Megan Stevens - Inglemoor High School
Grandfather: Robert Green '60, Rose Marie Walls '60
Both Megan's parents have served in the military. She will be attending the University of Washington in Seattle majoring in Business. She plans to open her own publishing company one day with the skills she obtains at the Foster School of Business at the UW. While attending Inglemoor High School she was involved in various school clubs while serving as editor and business manager of the school paper. Megan is a member of the National Honor Society.
Scholarship Winner Elijah Turner - Hawkins High School, Hawkins, Texas
Grandmother: Virginia "Ginny" Munn '56, Great Grandparents: Heath Samuel Munn '29, Virginia Hildebrandt Munn '30
Elijah will attend Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. He will be earning his associate degree with the goal of transferring into a four-year college or university. His plan is to go into theatre education or cinematography. Elijah says "Tyler has a good theatre and mass communication/media program." While at Hawkins High School he was active in theatre, track, tennis and cross-country. Elijah is also active in his church and is a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
Scholarship Winner Kendall White - Kentwood High School, Covington, WA
Father: Terry White '81, Tamie White
Kendall with be attending Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington. Kendall has earned his AA degree while in high school and plans to major in marketing and to graduate with an MBA in 2017. He was active in basketball and participated in several volunteer activities in the community. These included church choir, food bank and volunteering at a children's basketball camp.

The Lincoln Lynx Alumni Association would like to congratulate all our 2013 recipients. We especially appreciate our members who faithfully contribute to the LLAA Scholarship Fund. We were able to award $1,000.00 to each of our Scholarship Winners.
